Getting Organized (and trying to stay there)

Chart Paper - Table of Contents

Finding chart paper isn’t that easy in a middle school – but once you have some, it provides a great way to help your students with their organization. I have a title page for each unit, and on the back of the title page is a Table of Contents. Each time some paper is added to a student binder or duotang, whether it is one of my handouts, or a written assignment, or a quiz or whatever, I add the title to the chart paper. Students add the title to their own Table of Contents. Students who return from being absent can see what has been missed.

The chart paper shown above is one used by Ila Forbes at Eastview Middle School. As you can see, she has added the dates for each entry. Visitors to the classroom can see, at a glance, just what has been going on in Social Studies class.
